Threads: World History as a Living System
What happens when AP World History meets Generative AI Research Methods? In Threads, students trace headlines and current events back to their historical roots, weaving connections through time and space. By deconstructing narratives, mapping systemic drivers, and questioning dominant perspectives, students develop deep historical fluency, critical analysis skills, and a systems-thinking mindset.
Mettascope Magazine: Systems Thinking & Solution-Oriented Journalism
What if journalism wasn’t just about reporting problems but uncovering their root causes and solutions? Mettascope Magazine is a student-led publication and media lab that trains young journalists and analysts to separate signal from noise, identify systemic drivers of global events, and provide a long-view perspective on current affairs.
Civic Sensing: Mapping the Invisible Forces That Shape Society
How do we see the systems that govern our lives? Civic Sensing is a hybrid of citizen science, urban anthropology, and public data analysis, empowering students to map civic issues, crowdsource local knowledge, and prototype interventions for community impact. Using geo-mapping tools, ethnographic research, and policy analysis, students explore housing, transportation, environmental justice, and governance from the ground up.
Intervention Design Thinking: Systems Change in Action
What if design thinking was applied to systems-level challenges? Intervention Design Thinking moves beyond traditional product and service design, training students to develop interventions at the intersection of policy, community action, and social innovation. Students will prototype real-world solutions using the Top-Down, Bottom-Up, and Middle-Out approach, working on projects that bridge design, governance, and civic engagement.
